Well over a decade of experience operating from her base in Ushuaia has made Alicia one of the most experienced land-based tour agents in the Southern Ocean. She has sailed on twelve Antarctic expeditions, including visits to the Falklands and South Georgia Islands, the Weddell Sea and the Antarctic Peninsula, as well as two Arctic expeditions to the Canadian Arctic and Svalbard, Norway. In 2010, she completed an expedition around the famous Cape Horn and the Chilean fjords.
Throughout her thriving career, Alicia has befriended almost everyone in the industry with her engaging smile, charming personality, commitment to integrity, and her genuine love of working with people. She has even earned herself a prestigious place as a recommended agent in the well-known Lonely Planet travel guide!

During the off season Alicia spends her time getting to know the Arctic better, and travels extensively around the world looking for wider frontiers, cultural diversity and wildlife encounters. A native of Argentina, she spends her year between the southernmost city of the world, Ushuaia and the big apple, New York, where she enjoys sharing her passion for Antarctica with schoolchildren through educational presentations. She is truly a cosmopolitan woman that finds adventure and makes friends around every corner.

Carolina Mantella

Carolina Mantella has been involved in Polar adventures for 9 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the company. With degrees in hospitality and tourism management, Caro works her magic with clients on a one-to-one basis to ensure that all their sailing is as memorable and comfortable as possible! Caro’s adventurous spirit has taken her to live, work and travel throughout North America, Australia, Europe, South East-Asia and of course, the Polar Regions. Her passion for wildlife took her to South Georgia as a fieldworker; living aboard a small yacht she circumnavigated the island researching Giant Petrels and Wandering Albatross and fulfilling her love for natural history, adventure and photography. She lives in the heart of the mountains in Patagonia where she helps Alicia to run Antarctica Travels operations.
 

Heather Thorkelson

Heather has been an adventurer for as long as anyone can remember, having visited 18 countries by the time she was 18, lived in 5 different ones by the time she was 23, and had reached all seven continents by 32. Heather is a multi-passionate social entrepreneur who has been working in a wide variety of settings based on her passion for creative thinking and motivating people to bring out the best in themselves. She has taught students, managed staff, toured in a band as a north Indian classical musician, sits on the board of a non-profit, occasionally builds social media platforms for growing businesses, has a passion for world development politics & food/water security, runs two small arts-based businesses from home, coaches 30-somethings on getting un-stuck in their lives, and loves to climb up things in her free time. She is an avid outdoors-person, devoted mom to a Portuguese water dog, and lives with her partner Sean in Toronto when they are not out traipsing the far reaches of the globe. She moonlights as Alicia’s social media ninja.
