AKADEMIK VAVILOV

Designed and built for scientific reserch purpose in Finland, the Akademik Vavilov (sister ship of the Akademik Ioffe) is a Russian-flagged vessel that was refurbished in last five years to give a better expedition expirience. The ship is particularly stable due to a sophisticated stabilisation and trimming system built into the ice-strengthened hull. She is also manoeuvrable, quiet and fast with a maximum cruising speed of 14.5 knots. Although she can carry a maximum of 110 passengers she will only carry 96. On board there is also a theatre-style presentation room, small gym, sauna and swimming pool, lounge, bar, dining room, library and infirmary.
The ship's bridge is located on Deck 6 and is open to passengers virtually 24 hs a day. It is also the best location to sightsee and view the wildlife with bonoculars and wildlife identification guidebooks at your disposal.
