Antarctic Peninsula Cruises: Ships, Wildlife & Expert Advice

    Glaciers, gentoos & giants.

Home / Destinations / Antarctica Cruises / Antarctic Peninsula

An Antarctic Peninsula cruise is the most accessible way to reach the White Continent, and it’s easy to see why it’s inspired explorers for centuries. This expedition carries you through the spectacular wilderness of the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula itself — a world where nature makes the rules, and her unpredictable temperament makes every trip unique, exciting, and deeply personal.

Picture cruising in a Zodiac through sea ice that crackles like shattered glass, watching gentoo and chinstrap penguins build their nests along rocky shorelines, or navigating a maze of icebergs, each one uniquely carved by its journey through the sea. An Antarctic Peninsula cruise delivers the continent’s most iconic highlights alongside genuinely exhilarating adventure — and memories that last a lifetime.

    Wildlife on the Antarctic Peninsula

Every day on deck is a wildlife safari

Few places on Earth pack in wildlife the way the Antarctic Peninsula does. Expect gentoo penguins nesting in their thousands, humpback whales feeding in nutrient-rich waters, leopard seals patrolling the ice edges, crabeater seals hauled out on ice floes, and kelp gulls wheeling overhead. Krill congregations draw in whales and seabirds alike, making every day on deck as much a wildlife safari as an ice expedition. For a month-by-month breakdown of what you’ll see and when, see our Antarctica Wildlife Calendar.
