Hondius is one of the first-registered Polar Class 6 civilian vessel in the world, meeting the latest and highest standards for ice-strengthened cruise ships. Surpassing the requirements of the Polar Code, Hondius represents the most flexible, advanced, innovative touring vessel in the polar regions, thoroughly optimized for exploratory voyages that provide you the utmost first-hand contact with the Arctic and Antarctica.

Hondius uses LED lighting, steam heating, bio-degradable paints and lubricants, and state-of-the-art power management systems that keep fuel consumption and CO2 levels minimal. One deck consists of a large observation lounge and separate lecture room, which are reserved for a wide variety of interactive workshops, exhibitions, and performances. Although it is elegantly designed in stylish mid-century modern décor, this vessel remains faithful to the cozy and informal atmosphere characteristic of our expeditions.
 
A powerful fleet of zodiacs will guarantee quality outings and swift landing operation for all passengers at the same time.
A speedy zodiac embarkation is guaranteed with two separate gangways and in addition a zodiac embarkation indoor-platform which can also be used for special outdoor activities such as kayaking.

  • Single Supplement: 1,7x the Twin or Superior cabin rate.
  • Request-Share Program: we match solo travelers of the same gender with other solo travelers who indicate they are willing to share. Both guests save the single supplement. Should we be unable to find a cabin mate for a Request-Share traveler, the single supplement is waived. Cabin share is available only in the following categories: Twin, Triple or Quadruple.
  • Adventure Options: must be pre-booked and paid for prior to start of the trip. Ask for availability on each specific voyage (limited spaces!). Camping US$190 per night (max. 30); Kayaking US$465 per trip (max. 14); Diving: variable cost (max. 24); Snowshoeing: free of charge.
