An 12 Days/ 11 Night voyage right at the height of the Antarctic season giving us the best chance to experience all that this remote region has to offer.

This Polar Tracks departure in 2024 is a truly unique opportunity to experience the incomparable beauty and remote wilderness of Antarctica while in an authentic expeditionary setting on the newly-refurbished legendary ship, the 53 passenger MV Polar Pioneer

Almost every other vessel that visits Antarctica carries over 100 passengers, making the Polar Pioneer one of the most intimate ships you can travel on to take this trip-of-a-lifetime voyage. As one of the only remaining converted scientific research vessels, she offers that old-style expeditionary feel that is so rare these days.

Map/Itinerary

Day 1Embarkation Day

Board the Polar Pioneer between 4-5pm from the pier in Ushuaia and enjoy a welcome cocktail with the Captain as we set sail down the Beagle Channel towards the Great White Continent.

Day 2-3Sea Crossing Days

Crossing the Drake Passage to the South Shetland Islands, our first stop in Antarctic waters.

Day 4-9Antarctica Expedition days

While there is a carefully planned daily schedule based on distances between points of interest and the location of the ice in any given season, our timetable in Antarctica by nature must be flexible.

We’ll be following a rough itinerary so that every day the conditions are maximized for visiting the places and landing sites that will allow us to get ashore and explore, while also offering the best wildlife watching opportunities, be they land or sea-based.

Every morning your Expedition Leader will work with the bridge officers to make decisions about the day, taking into account the nearest landing sites, the ice and weather, looking at whether Plan A makes the most sense or if Plan B, C, or D will be better for us.

Nothing is guaranteed, but we are heading there prepared and our aim will always be to focus on all of the wonders that Antarctica offers us. Flexibility, and trust in our extremely experienced expedition team are key facets of a successful expedition.

Day 10-11Crossing the Drake back

Crossing back over the Drake Passage to Ushuaia.
